RICCC Varanasi: Overview
Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre (RICCC) is conceptualized by the Government of India in the city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh (UP) as a core base for cultural and artistic activities and the promotion of people-to-people exchange.
On July 15, the opening ceremony of the Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre (RICCC), which has been constructed by Japan’s Grant Aid through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), was held in the city of Varanasi in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP). The inauguration ceremony was chaired by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Smt. Anandiben Patel, Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh H.E. Mr. Suzuki Satoshi, Ambassador of Japan to India Shri Yogi Adityanath, Hon’ble Chief Minister of UP, H.E. Mr. Suzuki Satoshi, Ambassador of Japan to India and other dignitaries from India and Japan. H.E. Mr. Yoshihide Suga, hon’ble Prime Minister of Japan, delivered his congratulatory message through video. At the ceremony, Prime Minister Modi said, “The friendship between India and Japan is one of the most trusted international friendship in the world, both strategically and economically. Japan has always been the most reliable partner for India’s development.
The Varanasi International Cooperation and Convention Centre, named “Rudraksh”, will be the state of the art convention centre in India. With Rudraksh, Varanasi will become a more prominent centre of art, culture and heritage. Rudraksh is now the new development hub of Varanasi. I would like to thank the Japanese government for their efforts in building this Rudraksh.” Prime Minister Suga said in his video message, “I am very pleased to see that the (Varanasi) International Cooperation and Convention Center was built as a symbol of friendship between Japan and India.” “I hope that this center will be used as a stage to showcase close Japan-India cooperation through hosting international conferences and cultural and art events, and become a new symbol of friendship between Japan and India”. Prime Minister Suga also said, “Japan and India make utmost efforts to further develop our bilateral ties under the “Special Strategic and Global Partnership,” through cooperation in such areas as green society, digital, cyber, healthcare and enhancing connectivity”.
About RICCC:
In 2015, a state-of-the-art International Convention Centre called Rudraksh was planned to set up in the religious and cultural city Varanasi by the Representatives of both the countries and was developed and functional in May, 2021 to equip India-Japan’s year-long friendship with more positive energy. Rudraksh International Convention Centre has been developed into a major centre for cultural and modern gatherings.
Providing a platform to Varanasi’s supernatural cultural store, music gharanas and many other forms of arts by establishing a confluence with modernity is also the fundamental of Rudraksh International Convention Centre.
Rudraksh International Convention Centre, built at a cost of INR 186 Cr., is built in the shape of Shivalinga and is a unique Convention Centre in itself, showing the confluence of both Japanese and Indian architecture.
This convention centre has a seating capacity of 1200 people in the main hall. Arrangements have also been made to divide the hall into 2 parts according to the number of people. The convention centre is fully air-conditioned and equipped with modern “Building Management Systems” through which all management can be closely controlled. In addition to the large hall, a meeting hall with a capacity of 150 people can also be conveniently divided into two parts. Apart from this, a VIP room, four green rooms have been constructed here. The entire campus has been made as per the convenience of people with disabilities and all the criteria like ramps, wheelchairs etc. have also been fulfilled. Japanese style garden and landscaping have also been done in the Rudraksh Convention Centre complex. In order to make parking facility accessible, parking of 120 vehicles has also been arranged in the basement. CCTV cameras have also been installed in this convention centre for proper surveillance. Along with line electricity, solar power has also been arranged for power supply. 108 symbolic Rudraksh have been installed on the external facade of the Rudraksh Convention Centre, which are made of aluminium. Spread over three acres, this convention centre is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.
Spaces & Facilities:
RICCC is a design-conscious plus high-tech facility with the auditorium and halls that are equipped with high end sound acoustics, Hi-speed internet and a world class audio visual (AV) setup that supports every meeting aspiration with convenience to the delegates.
The centre is amplified with assistance of external as well as internal CCTV surveillance, smoke detectors, sprinkler systems and fire alarm systems. The Emergency Response System & First Reaction Team consists of fully-trained fire fighters with strategically placed fire exits ensure easy and quick access. The security system structure consisting of the door frame metal detector, hand-held detector, crowd control system, baggage scanner and traffic management system adheres to the international norms of quality and standard.
To further escalate the level of security; the centre also has easy access to the fire brigade, police and paramedics services. Additionally, we work closely with government agencies in order to keep upgrading our system whenever needed.
