Make It Vancouver 2024: Event Profile
Since 2008, Make It Vancouver has grown to become one of the most popular and well-attended craft fairs in Canada, with biannual shows in Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. This massive growth would have never been possible without the support, enthusiasm, and love from our amazing community. Each year, more and more conscious shoppers buy from our Makies, which in turn allows them to do the work they love.
Make It Vancouver was founded by siblings Chandler Herbut and Jenna Herbut. As makers themselves, they were inspired to create an event that their friends and peers would appreciate. Since the early days, Make It has been a platform for countless artists, makers, and designers to be able to sell their work to the public.
In 2016, after 8 years in business, Chandler made the decision to leave Make It Vancouver and instead focus his attention on running his clothing company, Ole Originals. Jenna continues to run the business from an office in Gastown along with a tiny-but-mighty team. She also supports the handmade community by writing regular blog posts and recording videos.

FAQs
How do I apply for Make It?
All of our application forms are available online (see links above). Applications for our each show are open roughly 8 months prior to the show. Once applications close, our jury processes the applications. All applicants are notified via email whether or not they’ve been accepted to the show.
If you’ve missed the application window, all is not lost! You can still submit a wait list application; wait list applicants will be notified via email if a spot is available for them, but will not receive any other notification.
To receive notification via email when our applications go online, please sign up for our email list here.
How many people attend the show?
Our holiday shows typically have 15,000 – 20,000 attendees come through the doors, and our spring shows have an attendance of 10,000 – 13,000 each.
Can I sell a product that I didn’t design myself?
Nope. In order to be accepted as a Makie, everything you sell needs to be designed by you and handmade right here at home. We don’t allow any mass-produced items to be sold, or any products that are manufactured outside of Canada.
Can I hire helpers to help me with production, or to staff my booth at the show?
Absolutely! As long as you’re the primary designer and producer, you can hire helpers to help you screen print your shirts, or bottle your sauce, or package your soap, etc. You’re also welcome to bring as many helpers as you need to help make the show a successful and enjoyable experience for you.
