EV & ESS Expo 2025: About

We are delighted to announce EV & ESS Expo 2025 – Chennai to be held on 13 – 15 February, 2025 at Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, Chennai. The EV & ESS Show 2025 will provide an excellent convening space for regional & global EV players to network and explore business opportunities in a highly engaging business atmosphere. The show aims to bring together key stakeholders from the entire domestic and international mobility value chain under a single roof to exchange critical industry knowledge and engage in high-level deliberations on the ways to fast track EV transition in India and make complete zero-emission mobility a reality.

The show will host a top-notch exhibition for participants to showcase new products, innovative solutions & the latest EV models to an enthused audience alongside a comprehensive conference featuring high-value actionable agenda and an outstanding lineup of speakers from governments, leading OEMs, charging infrastructure companies, battery management solutions providers, investors, fleet & logistics companies, etc. With an aim to become one of the largest EV events of 2025 in India, the show is all set to host the most comprehensive range of products & services and EV professionals from across the world.

Electric Vehicles (EV) Industry:

The Indian automotive industry is the fifth largest in the world and is slated to be the third largest by 2030. Meanwhile, the electric vehicle (EV) industry in India is picking pace with 100% FDI possible, new manufacturing hubs, and an increased push to improve charging infrastructure. Catering to a vast domestic market, reliance on the conventional modes of fuel-intensive mobility will not be sustainable. In an effort to address this, policymakers are developing a mobility option that is “Shared, Connected and Electric” and have projected an ambitious target of achieving 100 percent electrification by 2030.

EV sector in India and investment outlook:

Regardless of the country’s ambitious targets, India’s EV space is at a nascent stage. However, looking at it differently – India offers the world’s largest untapped market, especially in the two-wheeler segment. 100 percent Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is allowed in this sector under the automatic route.

The government is also prioritizing the shift towards clean mobility, and recent moves to amend the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles in India (FAME) II scheme to make electric two-wheelers more affordable, is a case in point.

Key Factors Boosting EV Growth in India:

  • Increase in demand for fuel-efficient, high-performance, and low-emission vehicles
  • Stringent government rules and regulations toward vehicle emission
  • Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)
  • Government initiatives
  • Technological advancements
  • Infrastructure developments

Energy Storage Systems (ESS):

Intermittent, renewable energy sources, like wind and solar energy, are increasingly capturing a larger share of the world’s power grids. As a result, there is a growing need for power producers to efficiently store excess intermittent energy. Energy Storage System (ESS) Solutions help store energy when supply is high and demand is low, so it can be used later when the supply decreases and demand peaks. Stabilizing energy resources allow them to consistently satisfy energy demands without straining the power grid.

Energy storage systems provide a wide array of technological approaches to managing power supply in order to create a more resilient energy infrastructure and bring cost savings to utilities and consumers.

Why Energy Storage Systems:

It’s time we shift the gear to make more use of renewable energy resources. What India and the world seek is the energy source that can not only facilitate the world energy crisis but also, create enough to store it for future usage, without tipping off the ecological balance. Unfortunately, though available in plenty, solar power and wind power are easily harnessed and the solution lies in energy storage. India dominates the market for energy storage in South Asia, but energy storage systems are still on the expensive side.

ESS Market in India:

Indian Energy Storage Market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.1% by 2026. Owing to a strong push by the government and a decline in the cost of storage technologies, energy banking is being adopted lately. In 2020, the industry demanded a clear policy on energy storage in the new electricity law showing the roadmap involving investment incentives, improved storage technology, and realistic targets for developing storage capacity.
